Default Re: WinZip vs WinRAR vs 7-Zip

I use 7-Zip exclusively. It can open and extract both Zip, PkZip, WinZip, WinRar, Unix Gz, Unix Tar, as well as a huge list of other compressions. In my experience its' about 25-50% faster than Windows Zip. The other main reason is that 7z seems to be a better compression algorithm == smaller files. It's open format, yay! AND most importantly you have options for "password", level of compression, as well as other options when creating the compressed file.

And Yes, I'm also old enough to remember the command line version os pkzip and pkunzip.
