Wow, do I wholeheartedly disagree! Archiving requires a scan of the utmost quality because it's for *archiving.* You don't know what you might want to do with it in the future, so you want the best possible scan you can get for the archive. That means that if you decide in 5 years that you want an 8 x 10 of it, you need to have scanned it well enough to be able to print it!

Always, always, always choose a film scanner over a flatbed for film. Two links:
