No matter, since li-ion batteries have a finite lifespan not much longer than two years anyway I won't worry about that too much. Like you, my time spent on battery power is very small.
Because the sine wave is clipped it doesn't provide the full voltage swing the transformer is looking for so it, in turn, never functions completely properly. Not that big of a deal to me but to some it is.
