Default Re: what nikon VR to buy?

yes the multiplier is 1.5

your FF glass the 28-80, 28-105 and 2 28-200 lenses.

here you have 4 lesnes that all start as the same point. having 2 28-200, i would sell one, it sounded like you were less happy with the sigma than the tamron. then it comes down to the 28-80 and the 28-105. which lens do you like the least and you could sell that one as well. although one could make the argument that if you are planning on getting the 24-120VR that both of these lenses could be sold as they would be replaced by the new lens.

this would leave you with a lens kit of 24-120, 28-200, and 70-300 with the 50 and 85 primes as low light lenses. not a bad 2 to 3 lens travel kit.

now if we port this to the dx side you have the 18-55vr. as nikon freak has pointed out its not as sharp as the 18-70. my opinion is the 18-70 is good enough that keeping it is fine. adding the 24-120vr has just enough over lap on the 18-55 to be useful and the range on the long end to be a benefit.

the only other lens in the mix would be the sigma 18-125 OS but you lose the benefit of it working on the film camera.

so the price of the 24-120VR used at keh.com is about $340
