I wouldn't go that far to buy another lens. I'm not that disappointed with the Nikon on an FX body to do that but I do turn on vignette control. Now, during events I rarely shoot wide open... I'm usually stopped down to at least f/3.2 or f/3.5 with it. The extra flexibility of the D3's high ISO capability allows me to get there and keep a high enough shutter speed.
