Hello from Maine,
I was able to find a couple hiking buddies and climb Tumbledown mountain in Weld, Maine, a couple times back in 2006.
That was two years before I started studying photography and bought a "pro" camera. All pics were taken with a camera worth about $25 in 2006, which was made back in 2000 - The "Fuji FinePix 1400 zoom".
When it was made digital cameras were still in their infancy, a "consumer" digital camera from 2000 was not very good quality at all - but it allowed me, an avid snapshooter, to photodocument my daughter's growth and a few cool events, without incurring the cost of film. Hiking Tumbledown, to me, was a very cool event.
Although P&S cameras from 2000 were not very good, the "
1400 zoom" was top of the line (in it's price class). In hindsight I see I was lucky to have that instead of the much worse options of the day.
Today I learned that
PhotoShop CS3 can automatically merge shots into panoramics - so I went back though those pics of Tumbledown and made a few cool wide shots.
I consider these "snapshots" because they were taken with such a poor quality camera (compared to the cameras of today). So I feel this thread is more appropriate here than in the "landscapes" forum (though maybe the panoramics have enough pixels to sneak into that forum).
