they don't: to tell *you* you have selected all points (AutoAcquireAF) the outer circle lights up: just a way to inform you, not to tell you you *only* selected the outer ones

? don't quite get what you mean: if you select *all* (AAAF) and the camera finds a target, the FP('s) will shortly light up, but then (while tracking) no more.
