Hi Max,

I already have the 50F1.8, its a pretty decent lens, but its field of view is a little "narrow" on my 40D for indoor use. Strangely, it was my first lens (I think it came with my Rebel kit in the late 80s or early 1990s) and I hardly ever used it. Its been seeing fairly frequent use since getting my DSLR, though. The 35F1.4 will provide a wider angle of coverage and provide a little extra light to do some more creative work with the kids.
