I had this lens for my Nikon D300 for a week. I was looking for a portrait lens (something in the 100mm range) and bought it used it for a week and returned it. Reason for return it just was too much of a range for studio work as stated I need a 100mm range lens only. The 70-300 was very nice and cheap as well it was $200 as it was being sold at $80 off. It was also very noise focus motor (I assume it has a motor) also sometimes it would not even focus. for the price very nice lens.

There is actually a web site that reviews this lens and they liked it. I will look for the link..

I also already had a 55-200 Nikon VR lens so did not do much for me.
