No. Canon's 300 f/4L IS seems like a hit. However...
Nikon probably hurt sales of its 300 f/4 AF-S by including that god-awful tripod collar with it, basically preventing vibration-free shots in a certain danger zone of shutter speeds unless one modified/replaced the collar. The Japanese engineering maxim of "just make it good enough" really has taken hold with recent Nikon tripod collars and feet.
Theoretically, Nikon should go ahead and just add VR to the 300 f/4 AF-S, and redo the tripod collar again (there were two versions of the collar, one marginally better, though essentially the same).
Sigma used to make a 300 f/4 APO, but it didn't have OS.
