Creep? More like gallop!
There's a real danger of tripping over the lens when carrying the camera slung over a shoulder. These days I usually carry my D80 in my hand by the lens to stop this problem. I've also become adept at using one finger as a zoom brake when shooting at anything other than horizontal. It's a real P-I-T-A.
