What do you mean you "needed" a non-expensive lens to take care of both? I'd think it'd be even less expensive to not buy a new lens at all.

At $190 USD, you get what you pay for in regards to the Tamron.

None of your lenses are really options when it comes to handheld night use. You need something with a faster maximum aperture, such as a 50mm f/1.8.
