Mate, i know where you live, and how prices are here (I'm from Tulcea, Romania).
My opinion is that you should buy a D40 (non X), a lens like 18-135 so you will have the photoreach for the whole wedding, and a SB-600 (not SB-800 coz i have a feeling you can't aford to buy one yet ). AFAIK the Nikkor 18-135 are realy sharps lens, and you don't have to worry about CA (you will shoot a lot with the flash at the interior, and less outside in bright sun), and vigneting can be easely removed in almost any post processing software.
I know the quality people want here, and I how much will pay for that (in both cases that's not too much). If you know how to bounce with flash you will be considered as pro
P.S. There are weddings where people want realy good photos, and will pay for that, but those are too rare. And you can try to find a good D70, used ofcourse. There are a lot of people who still use the old and good D70.
P.S.2. I've forgot to recomand a cheep Nikkor 50mm f1.8 for church pics. Probably you can use that wihtout so much flash light.
