Not too sure about that. If we are talking about f/stops then you have a point. But the discussion often isn't. They are often "subjective"

Case in point. The price I paid for the new cam. Do you think I'm not aware about the price in other markets, and how easy it is to order online. But I elected to buy the more expensive local option. Stupid, right. Not to me. One extra grand is nothing compared to how I "feel" had I got a lemon.
