The XTi/400D was the first body to match ISO to film speed, as far as I know. Before, the cameras tended to be something like 2/3 stop faster, so 100 was really 160, and so on. My experiences matched this, as my friend shooting his 1D Mk.II got 1/800 of a second when I was getting 1/500 of a second with that other brand of camera.

DPreview publishes "actual sensitivity" of the cameras in its reviews.

...now where's John to talk about how a new system for denoting sensitivity is needed?
