...I shoot 1D Mk III, noise is not an issue for me up to and including ISO3200, IMO ISO3200 is cleaner than ISO800 on my 20D. ISO6400 ('H') is noisy, and gets very ugly if you have to adjust exposure (plus or minus) afterwards in DPP...
...then again, I am pretty 'noise tolerant' if it stays within the shades, and is 'only' luminance noise, chrominace noise I can 'battle' with excellent results in DPP using the NR sliders and by LensCorrections: ColorBlur tool
