And Bob, the biggest difference here is product vs service. When you purchased your car, camera, whatever, you paid for it and the transaction is finished. The analogy doesn't work here. A closer analogy would be getting a free phone from your telephone carrier AND having everyone who dialed it hear "Thank you for calling a ABC telephone customer" instead of a ring.

It is all good, Brian thanks for the input. Yes this is a marketing plain and simple.
However, it is good marketing because the strap is good and the SmugMug service is awesome.
We tested all Canon, Nikon, Olympus, and Sony straps and decided to custom make a strap that everyone should really love. No sense in sending out a crappy strap that no one will wear. It is a neopryene soft strap that has just the slightest give.
