Default Re: Us & Them (concert pics)

Fotographer uber camera every time! You are so right Clyde! Great display although the shot of the tilted stage caused me to flinch. I like to keep it level. Personal quirk.
I especially like the cutaways, closeups of the fingers on strings, turntable; these make good transitions from the portraits of the performers.
The lighting was great for the subject. I wouldn't think of messing with the white balance.
It was a concert. I hope you got a good selection of audiance images as well.
Photojournalism is telling a story with pictures. There has to be a beginning, an opening shot to establish the scene/story and an ending. The middle will usually take care of itself if those other two photos are sufficently strong. Your experience. Tell it in your own pictures.
Don't be disappointed about your shot/success ratio. I can show you a half-hundred negative/proof sheet albums from my half century of photography. Culling out the close-no-cigar photos I averaged 3-8 exceptional pictures on a 36-exposure roll. This was with real film not the media we have (d)evolved toward. OK, I'm an old fogy. Deal with it!
Anyway, just do what you are doing and be happy. You are your worst critic anyway.
What are you planning on doing with these images?
Might I suggest that you take these as well as the semi-rejects and combine them on a DVD for a slide show presentation of your experience.
Get a recording of their performance and let the music/beat/lyrics dictate image changes.
Storyboard and produce a show for your TV. Invite the neighbors over. Lock the doors.
Entertain them. The will look at you and marvel.
You can trust me---I'm a druid
