Re: G9 or (gulp !) compact 35mm FILM camera ?
“If you were looking for a pocketable 35mm film camera, possibly used, that was the equivalent of a G9, but in film, what would you get ?”
I use a Canon G5 digital. When I want to use a pocket-sized 35mm film camera, I use a Canon QL17 Giii rangefinder. Both take excellent photos. The primary difference is that the G5 has a fixed zoom lens while the QL17 has a fixed prime lens.
By the way, if I could replace the LCD of the G9 with the adjustable LCD of the G5 and take the optical finder and manual focusing feature of the G9 and replace it with the rangefinder and manual focusing feature of the QL17, I would have my ideal compact camera.
