I can see that but I really wasnt talking about that issue. What I meant was that if a simple p&s camera can use a wireless connection to dnld files to my computer then I consider the wireless unit offered by nikon to be a different breed. It's use is primarily for camera control and dnlodng files. An eye-fi card can do the file dnload to a router and these sorts of things are a lot less money. I wouldnt expect them to be great in a stadium though. But I'd like to see a simple wi-fi dongle that I can stick in the usb port of my camera so I can talk to the camera through a network instead of tethered. And thats where a router installed on my notebook or desktop could be seen as a network.
I dont need a '500 dollar 2way Mr. Microphone' . It may be a fine pc of equipment but for me it seems to miss the mark. I'm hoping some third party manufacturer will jump in eventually. I see the nikon offering as a 'pro only' device.
Of course I'm just wishing in one hand and cryin in the other cause I dont expect nikon to listen to me
