The wireless devices are targeted at large news organizations covering major sporting events, and theoretically the small USB routers aren't robust enough to transmit from a large packed stadium where Pocket Wizards are sending signals left and right to strobes, remote cameras; fans are on their cell phones; the TV guys are radioing each other; and so on. In practical use though, the expensive solution fails anyways... =)
