In the spirit of taking less "crap" photos, here is the big kick off! I thought about what to shoot ALL day and decided to take a look at my 50 photo projects magazine that I bought a few weeks ago, and voila, refractions! (Note to self, next time, use a less-scratched cd cover!!! )

Thanks George! CD cover, bowl with m&ms, white paper around the bowl. Put cd cover on top of bowl, put drops of water with turkey baster, put camera on tripod with 100mm macro on it directly above about 1ft away or less... Focus thru the drop to the reflection, take photo, complain about cd scratches upon viewing lcd screen, repeat photo taking and complaining. Oh and it's shot at F22 - something I've never done either. EEK! Finalize photo, bring into photoshop, half-assedly remove scratches and do some more complaining! That about sums it up

Great stuff, starting your second year!!!

Lord V does a great tutorial on his Flickr for doing this.
I think the background should be totally burred and the images in the water drops in sharp focus.
I've yet to try this!!!

thanks Michelle, Clare and Mary! Yes Michelle I did turn each and everyone of them over lol... Clare I agree with you about the backround needing to be blurrred but I couldn't seem to come up with a perfect combo of shutter and fstop to do this right... I'm going to try again after getting a new cd cover sans scratches... I also needed more light but just used the modeling lights on my strobes... It was fun to try now just need to work on the details! I went step by step with what the mag was telling me to do but still not happy with the results 100%...
