At that time, I made it a point to attempt to get a photo for every post I did on the blog (didn't get one for EVERY post, but nearly). Some of the posts were about the images, some of the images were taken for the post. It was probably the most creative thing I've ever done, and it challenged me to the maximum. I loved every minute of it. I ended up fulfilling the 365 challenge, although it wasn't exactly every day; but sometimes it was 2 or 3 times a day, so I actually went over that number, to 398. The next year, I posted 71 times

All that to say, it was a great experience and if you are even remotely interested in doing a 365 project, I say do it! It's fantastic! It was hard for me to sometimes come up with something to take a picture of or to say, so I had a couple of themes going - on Fridays, I drew a letter of the alphabet out of a box, and the assignment was to take 3 images of something starting with that letter - great fun! And on Wednesdays, I had seen a blog do "wordless Wednesdays" with just one image, so I did that. Some blogs do something like "sky Friday" and they post a picture of the sky that day. There are so many creative things you can do on your own blog. Give it a go!
Thanks for the suggestions. I used my blog for 4 months while caravaning around central Australia. I think I will do a 365 project for 2013 using some of yur suggestions.

I know this is an old thread, but here we go. I do try to get out every day with the camera, but sadly if it is chucking it down with rain then no chance as our dog HATES the rain and wont move at all, still trying to teach her that water is not bad, but she is scared stiff.

Lemme get this straight. You're in England. And
it's a serious or semi-serious handicap in having
a dog that hates the rain ?

Seems like you gotta either emigrate, or get rid
of that dog ?

Maybe I am just an ignorant Yankee, but the top
3 things we think we know about the English and
England herself are:

1. Rain.

2. You looooove your doggies, even
more than pigeons love Lord Nelson.

3. Rain.

-------------------------------------

OK. Back to the thread topic. My 365 is to NOT
TAKE a photograph every day. I should make an
effort to be really clear on that. It's not a case
of not bothering to daily photograph something.
What it is, is ... a case of daily bothering to NOT
PHOTOGRAPH some thing, or scene, or person
that appeals to me as an excellent subject and
an excellent photo opportunity. I give it my full
attention and consideration, and then drop it.

IOW, I do everything leading up to making a great
photograph ... except for applying a camera to it.
I find this to be a terrific discipline. It's very Zen.
And it streamlines my approach in most instances
in which I WILL complete the photograph.

Have you nothing in your house you could photo when you can't get out (like a terrified dog, perhaps)? Are you unable to go out without your dog? BTW, my dog hates rain, too. If it rains all day, I eventually have to go out with him to get him to take care of business. Also, I did a 365 here a few years back. Despite my best efforts, I missed about three days. It is not an easy commitment to make.

When I was doing a 365 and got a stomach bug, I photographed the toilet paper rolls in the toilet. OK, so it wasn't exactly fine art, but there are better and worse ways to photograph a (diminishing) toilet paper roll, and trying to find out the better ones may help developing as a photographer. Or at least that's how I approached the situation.

I usually photograph something every day.
Have completed several 365' here on the Camel.
Presently nearing the end of my third '52'.
