Well the 40d has the Digic 3 processer, and they still added some specail lens coating to the pixals on the sensor chip. Pretty much making it a differnt sensor, but based off of the 400d. That leads me to believe the digic 3 could'nt do the job on it's own
But again, technogly gets better every day so.....
