Good start
I wouldn't use the macro setting on the camera though it doesn't really do anything sensible, unlike on P&S cameras where it alters the focus distance. Try using aperture or shutter priority. Keep the shutter around 1/100th minimum and see what apertures you can get by altering the ISO. Wider than F6.3 for dreamy look or smaller than F8 for more DOF (provided there is enough light).
