I love saddle brown backdrops. They are so versatile and flattering.
The kitty would have been better without the collar, but, it is one of those hindsight things, sometimes you just don't see things until reviewing them. I try and remember to get them off everytime.
I really like the second cat photo, the one thing I would have done different on both is add a reflector in for just a bit more fill on the off side. Love the expression on your pug. It is perfect. Doesn't look scared to me, just a typical soulful pug look. Your light was a bit high on that shot, and lowering it just a hair for that shot would have lit up the mask and eyes just a bit more. Nitpicky stuff though!
