I would say it's either cost or availability. There doesn't seem to be any D3's around at the present time.

In fact, I haven't rec'd my second D300 and I'm running around town today to see if I can't score one to have three on hand (whenever BH gets the next batch.) Another good option might be to hold off on the third D300 and grab a D3 when they become available.
