Actually, the D70 doesn't support D-TTL either.

The D2 bodies (H, X, and their S versions) maintained D-TTL compatibility so that D1/H/X users could continue to use their flashes, but I doubt many people still use D-TTL flashes if they own an i-TTL capable camera, as i-TTL offers a significant improvement over D-TTL. I've only seen one shooter not go to the SB-600/800 flashes for her i-TTL camera.

The D3 doesn't list D-TTL as supported but I've read/heard reports that it is still D-TTL compatible.
