Following the same formula of 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock doesn't necessarity mean that it's correct position....and it isn't going to work for everybody.
Those clock positions seem to be too high to me for any subject....just my opinion. Your not lighting up the "mask" of the face.

Modelling lights do a fantastic job of showing you where shadows will fall before you ever trip the shutter.
