Default PS training

Posted on the glamour forum.....

I have lurked on here for a while. As a guy who has shot sports for years my knowledge and use of PS has been only at the most basic level, but has been all that I have needed.

Over the last couple of years I have been asked by friends to do some photography that started out as portraits but graduated into more glamour. As they are friends I have not been able to post these shots here but have just done a session with a friend of a friend that when processed I hope to post some of.

But now I have run into a problem, with the ones I did before I have edited them in a very basic way, this last set is of a 35 year old who wants to remember herself when "she had a figure". I owe her a good job, to do this I need a more detailed knowledge of PS, mainly layers and masks, but I need them from ABC. I hear so many comments of open an adjustment layer, or mask it and do such and such, but very few explanations of how these are done and what their cause and effects are.

Can anyone point me to somewhere that offers really comprehensive PS training. I would rather use the web than attend a course as I have a day job, but if necessary I could take some time off. I am UK based around the London area.

Thanks
