Thankgiving can be a great time to travel
Can being the keyword ... it means a four day weekend, sometimes even longer, it means the great outdoors is virtually empty, and if you take scenic byways it doesn't have to mean horrid traffic. It's late enough that there's snow, so if you're near the desert, the combination of fresh white powder on red rock or sand is magical.
I went to
The Columbia River Gorge
for the holiday. The downside is that it's late there's snow ... so a lot of forest service roads are closed. I had planned to take dirt roads back from Oregon to Seattle, but alas, I have to wait for April or May. Still, here's some of what I got:
Moonrise Over the River Columbia
Waterfall Closeup
The Bridge of the Gods
US Route 97
Desert River
