(Cut and paste) "...it is pretty misleading to call it [18% grey] middle grey, because exposure wise it isn't really in the middle of black (zero light) and white (completely blown)."

Black no detail is 0 and white no detail is 255. 18% grey is 128. 128 and 128 is 256. How is this not 1/2 way between 0 and 255?
