Oh crap, you're right. I generally refer to the original spec sheet, but if you have a major manufacturer machine, like a Dell, you can look it up on their support site, using your model/serial #. Also, you can use the tool at Memory upgrades, flash media, and usb storage at Crucial.com to find out.
