I think you're wrong on these points. I think Nikon is showing the ability to do whatever Canon (and their 'fans") think they excel at.
I don't know if you are saying you are excited about the Nikon news, or the Canon news. if it is the later, better go join their party. The only way the new Canon bodies beat the new Nikon bodies is in the name on the front, and that is just because people have a piss poor perception of what is good when they read the label.
I noticed the nice ad Canon has in some magazines about the new MkIII being the "worlds fastest DSLR". neat. Too bad they need to retract that comment for upcoming ad layouts.
