Default Re: D3 and D300 are out

To me, the best part of the announcements are the two new pro wide andle zooms. These are no longer DX lenses and Nikon has needed these for a long time. I still wish they had announced a 17mm or 18mm to 70mm f/2.8 zoom rather than a 24mm, but the 24mm is much better than yesterday's Nikon selection.

I think the two new bodies are great, but I plan to wait until these go through puberty. I suspect the second offerings, perhaps next calendar year might be mature offerings most capable of being bought, used and kept for longer periods of time. These new bodies are just a bit too new sounding for current ownership and 12mp v 10mp does very little for me. I would like a 1:1 viewfinder, good remote capabilities and extremely low noise generation to say ISO 1,600. The one potentially exciting technological advancement may be the sensor cleaner....this could blow the Giotto Rocket away.

My two cents and nonsense,
Tom
