Your LCD viewfinder is, I believe, 1.8 inch. You may need to purchase a very inexpensive viewfinder shade or make one so that you can take advantage of the LCD finder in bright sunlight. As Sidebyte wrote, your optical finder may be deceiving, but your LCD finder should be accurate.
Do not be too surprised at your camera. Many, in fact most cameras, do not offer 1:1 viewfinders. Today's digital camera bodies with good, 1:1 viewfinders typically cost over $1,000 U.S. for the body alone, and yes, these are great to have if you need them.
