If you're referring to my example, the technique I use is basically to get a tone that is what I remember a lot of my old film B&W images looked like. Quite often they had a greyscale veering towards the warm side, and I still prefer this when converting to B&W (de-saturation in something like Photoshop seems too cold and close to a bluey black for my tastes).
Anyway, about 3 hours to go before final submission - so still time for anyone else to have a pop!
