If you're attempting to trigger the shutter remotely, there is a lower cost option than the LC-5 available from several eBay sellers - the ADIDT R3.* *It can usually be found for $ 95-100 USD.* This unit functions as a cable release and as a wireless remote with a range of 100 meters ( I have not tested).* So far, I am happy with it.
If on the other hand you are attempting to (remotely) control playback display when the camera is connected to a display device - I don't think that there is any capability to do that on a 30D like a there is on some of the lower end Canons (G series, Pro-1, etc.).
