The swivel was pretty handy on my G5. *Group shots on vacation where you want to be IN the photo is the perfect for the swivel. *Also, for crowds/street shooting, it was handy to stick the camera above my head and still be able to frame a shot w/o just point-n-hope. *Also for street shooting, having the camera at your waist with the lcd tilted up at you is a very inconspicuous way to get candid shots. *People always react or "pose" when they see a camera to another's face.
